Weigh in - Week 2 of WW

Today I was apprehensive about getting on the scales, scared of disappointment.
Well I did lose, but not as much as I hoped, I lost 800gm, 200 short of a kilo!
Total weight loss is now 3.6kgs - from beginning of March.
1.9kg since starting Weight Watchers.
Total weight loss percentage is 3.29% and for the week it is 0.75%

Went to the gym today, Des didn't go as he went on the booze last night! Tutt Tutt!
It was a hard work out, sweated like crazy, couldn't wait for it to be over!
Not feeling too bad afterwards this time, came home and had an apple for morning tea.
Lunch I had a WW frozen meal.  I was so good all day and then Amy pestered to have fish and chips for dinner, I relented and then once I ate it wished I hadn't, it wasn't that enjoyable and when I looked up the point value was horrified, like a whole days worth of points, would have rather blown it on Hungry Jacks!
Had wine as well - so the evening was a total write off.

Since my weigh in

Has been nearly a week since my weigh in and last update.
Des and I officially joined the gym after our 7 day free trial, I went 5 out of 7 days, Des went 6 out of 7!
Had our appraisals on the Monday and on my BP check it was too high and I was not allowed to go any further until I had a Dr's certificate to say it was OK.  I got an appt that day at the Dr's and he said it was more than fine to be exercising and joining the gym, that is what will help bring my BP down, but as it has been high now for 3 months ( or possibly longer!) he has put me on medication for it.

Did my own workout at the gym on Tuesday and on Wednesday met up with the trainer again to finish my appraisal - she did up a plan for me, doing about 30 mins cardio and 30 mins resistance, abs and cooling down.

So I went through the full session, was a pretty hard slog, but just at the right limit I think.  Did feel a bit sick afterwards, Des says that is the adrenalin!

Weigh in day tomorrow!  Fingers crossed there is a loss cause on the weekend I went to a winery tour and consequently drank a bit of wine, we bought some chocolates at the Chocolate factory and have had a couple of them each day.  But over all I have stuck well to my meals and snacks, apart from the odd chockie here and there and the alcohol.

Stay tuned for the results tomorrow!

Weigh in Day

Well I thought I would feel like crap this morning but was surprised that I didn't, apart from a little dehydrated I felt pretty good.
Officially weigh in day, down 1.1kg for the week, I know I can't complain, it is a kilo!
I must must must not get on those scales every day as it is disappointing, because earlier in the week I had dropped down to 1.5kg loss but it went up again, had I NOT got on the scales I would have never known!
Lesson learnt.

Started the day with 2 slices of wholemeal with grains toast and jam.
Midmorning I have had a WW brownie.

Tiredness

Well yesterday was pretty bad with tiredness but I actually woke up quite early this morning and up and out of bed by 7am.
Breakfast I had porridge with banana and some maple syrup.
My arms were feeling really sore today as yesterday I did some weights on them.
Today I did 5 mins on the cross trainer, 10 mins on the bike and 15 on the treadmill.  Finished off with doing some abs.
I had some burgen bread toast with canola spread and some jam when I got back from the gym with a cup of tea.
Lunch I had some lamb rissoles, bought from Woolies, they actually are 3 points each but there was not a lot else in the house to eat, made up a salad which was all zero points, so total of 6 points for lunch.

New week

Monday - I am feeling quite tired and wanting to go to bed by 8.30pm!  Had a good 11 hrs sleep last night!
Breakfast was porridge with maple syrup.
Went to the gym, worked pretty hard, did some weight on my arms and they feel all shaky now, feels weird!
Had a Yoplait yoghurt when I got back from the gym.
Lunch I had left over beef casserole with a small portion of rice.
Afternoon I had a cup of tea and 2 chocolate biscuits, but I am still within my range!
Dinner I made a WW recipe, Chicken Chasseur - it was pretty bland though, only 3.5 points! Probably won't make that one again.
I also had some low fat custard in the evening and 2 glasses of white wine.

Day off

Today is our day off from the gym.  I still woke quite early today, Sundays I normally sleep half the day away!
Got up at 8am and had 2 lean pieces of bacon, 2 poached eggs on 2 slices of burgen bread.  7.5 points, a little higher than normal but it is Sunday :)
Mid morning I had a Yoplait Frome, Sticky date pudding flavour, very yummy.  They are only one point.

Lunch I had the last of my Chicken Fried Rice that I made up - total 4 points.

Afternoon I sat by the pool with a bottle of champagne and a handful on almonds and then had a nice little nap in the fresh air.

For dinner I had a pork chop with small portion of mash potato and half a plate of vegies.
Dessert I had some custard.

I went over my allowance today because of the wine, but that is what the weekend is for!

Recipe - Mustard & Dill Chicken Parcels

Had these for dinner and was yum!

Serves 4

  • 1/4 cup of Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup skim plain yoghurt
  • 1 clove garlic crushed
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 4 small skinless breast chicken, excess fat trimmed
  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees
  2. Combine mustard, yoghurt, garlic and dill together
  3. Spread over chicken using a spoon
  4. Wrap each piece of chicken in foil
  5. Bake in oven for 20 mins or longer if pieces are thick.
Serve with vegies (I also served with sweet potato mashed with cream cheese)

Tip from my first try, use all the sauce on the chicken, I only coated it a bit but once it was cooked it had dried out a bit, so use it all to have lots of creamy sauce.

If you serve a small portion of chicken per person this meal is a 3.5 point value.

Here is the recipe online if you wish to print it out
Mustard & Dill Chicken Parcels

Also if you do not normally like yoghurt, don't worry there is no way you can tell it has yoghurt in it!

It is coming off!

Yay, I can see the weight is coming off, well I can't really but I can on the scales.  Down one kilo the other day, down another half today!  I am so excited!  My first goal is to reach double digits, 99kgs, another 6.2 to get to 99.9kg!

This morning I tried something yummy I saw on Jamie's Kitchen, make french bread with crumpets!
I had 2 this morning with a drizzle of maple syrup, it was like eating a thick pancake.  Total points 4.5.

Off to the gym shortly.

Back from the gym and I was starving!  Had some watermelon whilst I was toasting some burgen weight management bread, had WW Canola spread and some jam on it and a cup of green tea.
That did cost me 4.5 points but I think I will still get thru the day without going over or in to any of my saved points.

Tiredness hit me at about 1pm and I had to lie down!  Slept on and off for 2 hrs on the couch!

The pain in my hip and leg from my injury last year is really playing up when I sleep, drives me mad as at times it keeps me awake.  Was quite painful today after my nap on the couch.

Had a plum mid afternoon. Just a small one so only 0-1/2 a point.

Just deciding what to do for dinner, the choices on WW Online are mouthwatering!

Dinner

Dinner tonight we had Slow Cooked Beef and red wine casserole, I had sweet potato with it and cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprouts and small amount of carrots.
Half of my plate was vegetables, then 1/4 of sweet potato and 1/4 of the casserole, about a palm sized serving.

Earlier in the day for afternoon tea I had one cup of low fat custard (3 points)

In the evening I still had 3.5 points left so I had a cup of tea and 2 chocolate biscuits and I still have 1/2 a point left!

I ended the day with a total of 3 saved points as I had 2.5 from my gym session plus 1/2 left from my daily allowance :0)

Recipe - Chicken Fried Rice

Yum, made this for lunch!  I had to be strong to control my portions as I really wanted more.
Thought I would share the recipe

Chicken Fried Rice - Serves 4 (Total 4 WW Points)

  • 3 tbs soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 320g cooked brown rice (I used one of those already cooked heat and serves 300g)
  • 1 whole fresh carrot
  • 350g skinless chicken breast
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 5 shallots (I used red capsicum)
  • 4 egg whites
  • Canola spray
  1. Heat a non stick pan and spray with canola oil.  Add egg whites and cook until scrambled 3-5 mins.
    Remove and set aside
  2. Spray pan again with oil and add garlic and shallots, followed by chicken and carrots, stirring and cooking for 5mins or until chicken is cooked thru and browned.
  3. Stir in reserved egg whites, rice, peas and soy sauce and cook until heated through.
  4. Drizzle with extra soy sauce if desired.
Was too starving to take a photo before I ate it, will tomorrow when I have another serve.

Change of diet plans

I have decided that I am going to give Weight Watchers a go.  They have been doing this for 40 yrs so they must  be doing something right.  I was disappointed to find they no longer come to Roleystone for meetings and I know if I have to travel too far I won't go, so I decided to join Weight Watchers online and I am excited!  There are over 500 recipes, it is so easy to track your points online and I can eat like I am really not on a diet, there are so many options!

Woke up Friday morning and had porridge with a squirt of Maple syrup, not normally a porridge lover but it went down OK.  For breakfast my points came to 4.5 points.

Off to the gym today with Des - we did a 1 min warm up on the rowing machine, then did our stretching exercises, then back on the rowing machine, I managed 4 mins.  Moved on the the exercise bike, it was bloody hard, it wasn't the sort that had the tension control, I managed 8 mins on that.
Moved on to the treadmill and did 10 mins at 4.5kph.  I thought I would try to make up my mins lost on the bike and rowing machine and gave the  cross trainer a go, whoa that was hard, only managed 2 mins!
Finished up doing 40 ab crunches with the ab roller then cool down stretches.

Des brought me a small platter of fresh fruit, so when I got home I had a slice of watermelon, about 5 grapes, a slice of rockmelon and a strawberry, only equates to half a point and I have earnt 2.5 points thru my work out.  My daily allowances of points is 22.

My Brother to the rescue!

Well I wasn't really going anywhere with my diet and then Des arrived home from Africa and said right we are off to the gym each day!  Last thing I ever intended on doing was joining a gym!
Des has been working out the past 3 months and so far has lost 15kgs!
So we did it, we got a 7 day free pass at Shapes Health Club and did our first session on Wednesday, just did half an hour.  I managed about 4 mins on the rowing machine, man that is a killer!  I then did 10 mins on the exercise bike and 13 mins on the treadmill.  Did about 20 stomach crunches and then we finished up.
I felt quite good afterwards.

That same day I had a dentist appt to have 2 teeth extracted which meant I could not exercise the following day so I had a day off, but Des still went and did his work out.

This morning I had bacon, poached eggs and 1 slice of toast.
Lunch I had a lean cuisine meal, was yummy cause it had some mash potato in it!
Must get out to the shop to get some supplies, everytime I go up there I forget to by splenda so I can make some desserts.

Wednesday 10th March

So I have been on this diet now for 8 days, the scales still say a 2kg loss but they did go back up 1 kilo and now back down a kilo.

Breakfast this morning was some bacon and scrambled eggs.
I had some chicken for a protein snack and for lunch I had pork spare ribs with a salad, and I didn't eat the fat!
No afternoon protein snack, I really must make some more cheesecakes!
I had some wine this evening but I mixed it with soda water, so I could have a couple without it really being a full glass in total.
Devil food Devil food Devil food, is all I can say.
Please will someone send me willpower!!!!!!

Tuesday 9th March

Well the scales aren't giving me much motivation, but I have yet to get out the tape measure if see if I have lost any cm's.  I think my stomach has gone down a bit.

Breakfast today was 2 poached eggs on toast.
I missed having a morning protein snack, time got away from me!
Lunch I had chicken and salad.

The devils food got to me again!  Someone please will you eat the left over birthday cake!!!!

Dinner I had a Lamb mignon with cauliflower mash, broccoli and brussel sprouts.

In the evening I had 1 1/2 glasses of wine :(  Yeah I know, I know, but at least it was just 1 1/2!

Monday 8th March

Trying really hard to stay on track, already losing my motivation!
I started off the morning good with 2 chev up sausages and poached eggs for breakfast.
But the devil got me and I had some birthday cake at morning tea!  Ahhhhhhhh........
Lunch I had some left over sausages and afternoon protein snack I had some chicken.
Dinner I am planning lamb with vegetables.
Getting quite fond of drinking lime and soda, so hopefully that can replace my urge to want to drink wine!

Yay I survived the night without an alcoholic drink!

THE WEEKEND

I will roll two days in to one, let us just say I did not do to good as it was Lachlan's birthday!
I did have cake, and I did have some alcohol.
No excuses or reasons, it has been done, and I will get back on track.
Monday will be a new start to a good week!

Lunch was 2 rissoles with salad.

I didn't have a protein snack!

Dinner I had meatballs in a tomato pasta sauce, but no pasta, I had it on a bed of cabbage with a sprinkle of grated cheese.  Here is a picture of my dinner.

Yay the start of the Weight Loss Phase!

Jumped on the scales this morning (well not literally) and I have lost 2kg!  I know most is fluid, but is good to see the results on the scales.

This morning I had bacon, poached eggs on one slice of toast (oh that was good!)
Spent hours at the hospital waiting for Amy to be discharged, finally she is home and is doing well.
Morning snack was a cup of tea and a protein cheesecake.

Lunch Lunch Lunch - I can have salad with my lunch!  Woo hoo, now to decide what to have!
Well, I ended up having left over Bolognaise for lunch, NO PASTA though.

Dinner, I made cottage pie, one with potato on top and a little one for me that I made a cauliflower topping, mixed with yogurt, horseradish and milk and spread across the top and topped with low fat cheese, it was very nice, served with broccoli and beans.

Day 3 (Last day of detox) Thursday 4th March

Yay, last day of detox today!  Up bright and early this morning and had my usual bacon and poached eggs for breakfast.  Took Amy to hospital at 7am as it is the day she has her tonsils removed!
I packed my little esky bag and took my morning protein snack and my lunch, as well as an afternoon one in case I was there all day.
All went well with Amy's surgery, she was in and out of theatre within 40 mins!  She feels OK so far!

Morning protein snack was two meatballs and for lunch I had sliced Chicken with a boiled egg.

Left Amy at the hospital to come home and check on Mika and will go back to be with her once the kids are home from school.

Will go and have my afternoon protein snack soon, a cheesecake!

Went back to visit Amy in hospital, forgot to take my bottle of water!  Whilst there dinner came round the wards, they brought Amy Curry Chicken, after just having her tonsils out! She hates spices at the best of times!  I was so hungry from the smells I had 3 bite size pieces of the chicken, I refrained from eating the entire meal!

Despite having that chicken I was ravenous tonight, I was really starting to feel the pressure of the detox and with my steak tonight I had vegetables!  Not bad, but I didn't make it to the last meal of my day 3 detox, but I really needed something else on my plate tonight, it was that or I was tempted to pop open a bottle of wine!  So vegies was a far better choice for my diet!

Wednesday 3rd March 2010 - Day 2

You feel so much better in the mornings when you have not been drinking alcohol! I don't mean I woke each day with a hangover, but when you do drink each night you tend to be really sluggish in the morning and find it hard to get on with things.
Got straight up this morning, showered and started the day with a smile.

Breakfast was bacon and 2 poached eggs.

Tomorrow I need to be well organised as I will be sitting up at the hospital for hours as Amy is going in to her have her tonsils out, so I will make sure I take my protein snacks and my lunch in a little esky otherwise it will be too tempting to go to the cafe and eat something bad!

Mid morning I had a protein cheesecake and a cup of tea. The secret of this diet (well not so secret) is to train your body in to knowing it is not in a famine and you eat regularly. This way your body will burn fat and not store it as it has been. You should never go 3 hrs without food and you should have 6 small meals a day, comprising of
  • Breakfast
  • Protein snack
  • Lunch
  • Protein snack
  • Dinner
  • Protein snack
The good thing is if you are hungry you can have a protein snack every hour if required!

Well lunch time has rolled around, I had 3 chev up sausages, they are quite small and may have been a little over my 100g limit, but I am not going to let the small things get me down.
I am still on track and drinking lots of water.

Afternoon protein snack was 2 meatballs on the rush as I was heading out to do some shopping and remembered that I would break the 3hr rule if I didn't eat something before I go.

For dinner I had 3 chicken kebabs in honey and soy, probably was not a good idea with the honey and soy but the small stuff doesn't matter, the fact is I have stuck to everything pretty well so I am pretty pleased with myself.

In the evening I had a cup of tea and a protein cheesecake, goes down a treat!

One more day of  protein only!  So looking forward to Friday where I can start adding vegetables and the odd piece of bread in to my diet again!

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

Tuesday 2nd March

Day one of Carb Detox (3 Day detox)

Breakfast was bacon and 2 poached eggs plus a cup of tea.
Missed having a protein snack
Lunch was Calamari about 100g

Going to go and make some cheesecakes that I can use for a protein snack :)

Here is the recipe

  • 500g ricotta cheese
  • 1 sachet of diet jelly
  • 1 cup boiling water
Blend all together and pour in to patty lined muffin tin and refrigerate for 2 hrs.

Will let you know how good they are in a couple of hours!

Made up a pile of meatballs and froze them in portions that I can cook and keep in the fridge for protein snacks. I had a couple at around 2pm, yummy! Two was not enough but I didn't go for more.

At 4.30pm I had one of the mini cheesecakes, yummy!!!! It was like eating blamange, very yummy. So easy to make and so easy to eat.

Here is a pic of them!

Dinner tonight the family is having chicken cacciatore and rice, but little old me is having just the chicken.

Update - Had my chicken for dinner, was very hard watching everyone else tucking in to their large plates of chicken and rice! I ate slowly and I feel satisfied, I did have an extra 2 small bits of chicken the kids left. Looking forward to another hour or so, so that I can have a cup of tea with a mini cheesecake for my next protein snack!

Another New Year

Well believe it or not we are in March 2010 and I am still fat! I weigh about the same as I did when I first started this blog, actually probably a kilo more. So here I go ago trying to attempt to achieve my goals this time!
In January the Dr gave me all the reasons why I need to lose weight
  1. High blood pressure
  2. High cholesterol
  3. High liver function
  4. Border line Diabetes
So there you have it, I must start looking after myself! Food is not my evil it is alcohol and whilst I am still drinking it I will never lose weight! I know that, but my brain keeps telling me to have it, I guess you call that an addiction.

Well as of Tuesday 2nd March I have begun following the BodyTrim diet, which I did once before but again did not stick with it. I know if I stick with it I will lose the weight!

Click here to find out more on the program I am following Bodytrim
