This is my down size me blog, about how I started to gradually gain weight and how I hopefully gradually down size back to a more healthy weight. It goes back over a couple of years of yoyo dieting, showing how easily I gave up each time and finally now find the motivation and will power to stick with Body Trim and starting to see some results.

Bodysculpt
I received my Bodysculpt kit and have read through the book and watched the first DVD and have the gist of the eating plan so I started on Monday 7th November.
I had a really bad week leading up to it, Sunday drinking, Monday Mums birthday lunch, Tuesday Melbourne cup lunch, Pizza on the weekend and more drinking. I was 86.1 and I crept up to 87.3 or 87.7 I am not sure cause I jumped off the scales in disgust that I didn't take note of exact amount.
Saturday morning, 5 days on BS I was down to 84.8kg! I slipped up once when we went out to a friends farewell drinks and drank well over a bottle of wine! The scales are back up to 86.1 Sunday morning but I know that it mostly fluid retention from Friday night.
Now to find some time to sit and watch the rest of the DVD's to learn how to use the resistance bands to tone up my body.
10kgs to go to my goal weight!!!!!!

Link to recipes
I save all my recipes to Evernote, great feature as I can access it from my phone, laptop, tablet, work computer anywhere! Particularly handy when shopping and you can't remember the ingredients for something!
You can dowload the app for your smartphone and also on to your computer, but you don't need it to access my recipes as I have shared the folder for everyone.

Scales were not budging
Well week after week the scales were not moving much, with a few too many cheats here and there too it didn't help. I have to say though my day is 95% strict to the plan and it is the odd day here and there I might have a little chockie or a drink of wine. I was not overly concerned because my clothes continued to get looser so I knew it was coming off.
This week after celebrating our 20th anniversary midweek and then again on the weekend I still managed to lose 1.1kgs! Woo hoo!!!! My new size 14 jeans are already too loose, they need a belt now! My new size 14 work pants are also slipping down.
I have just purchased Bodysculpt which will give my weight loss a kick start again and help me to tone up too.
Can't wait for it to arrive and get started. Oh and Brian has finally jumped on the Bodytrim wagon too!

Blood test results
Finally went back to my Dr for my blood test results.
My cholesterol is still high, this is probably due to it being hereditary and not my diet, because I have been on Bodytrim since May and it hasn't changed. So I am on medication to control it.
My blood sugars are now normal! I was borderline diabetic last year! My iron levels were high so he is going to test my liver function when I go back for follow up blood tests in 3 months time.

Size 20 to Size 14!
Yeeehhaaaa I am officially a size 14! I bought myself a pair of size 14 jeans today and they fit really comfortably, not a tight squeeze in to them either! I also tried on some blouses for work, last year I tried on the size 18 and it was too small, now I fit in to a size 14!
This has really given me a boost of accomplishment as the scales are moving very slowly - but in the past month I have dropped a size. Now for a size 12!
I have started on the 12 week Bodytrim challenge, to reach my goal weight in 84 days. It is certainly achievable.
My first week in the challenge I only dropped 300gms :( But I think more in cm's came off!
Just had a weekend in Melbourne for training with SANDS so a few blow outs when away, but getting myself back on track again.

It's been a tough week
I kept on giving in to temptations and having chocolate here and there and even mid week I drank some wine!
I still managed to lose 1/2 a kilo, but imagine what I could have lost! I have been sitting at the 88kg mark for a couple of weeks now, going down, then it goes up and back down and up (thanks to free days!)
Monday brings a new week and the beginning of the Body Trim 12 week challenge, it is time to retrain my brain and get back to the plan properly and saving those treats for my free day.
Total loss so far is now 16.3 kgs.

Happy Birthday to me!
Just celebrated my 42nd birthday! Had a party with my friend Belle who turned 42 3 days before me.
We had the best time, drank lots, ate lots and just had a good time!
But I am now back on the straight and narrow, straight in to a protein only day without any hassle at all.

The week so far....
Has not been good, too many nights of alcohol! I have been pretty good with the food though except for a blow out on Monday night of Pizza and wine! Had someone staying with us so it was hard to resist.
I drank more wine again on Thursday night! Using emotional needs as an excuse!
What ever happens for the rest of the week so it will be! I will start fresh on Monday as I begin a new challenge with a new group of BT ladies to lose 5 more kilos by the 5th November.
My goal is to also get out and do more walking from next week!

Big week ahead
Well my weigh in before my naughty weekend was 88.6kg. It was so great to move down to 88!!!!!
15.9kg is the total loss so far! I had drinks Friday night as I went to a footy tipping comp windup - only had 3 but got the taste for more and drank more when I got home - I ate well all day though.
Saturday was my FREE day, ate well for breakfast and lunch, had my protein snacks, also had a Chunky KitKat and a small pack of French Fries (Crisps) and Dinner was Spaghetti bolognaise with some garlic bread! YUM. I did drink more alcohol too. Sunday was PO day, I followed through all day but at dinner I had vegies with my protein. Was soooooo tempted for more wine but I was good and didn't. Result is 1.3kg gain, but most will be fluid, usually it is gone back down by Wednesday.
My birthday next Sunday! A busy week actually, have a work meeting all day on Tuesday, going to take my protein snacks so I don't be tempted with morning and afternoon tea. Wednesday night is out for dinner and then Saturday night is my birthday party and Sunday my birthday - Major blow out!

Blood Tests
I finally went in for some blood tests today to see how being on this diet has affected my results.
One year ago I was borderline diabetic, high cholesterol, over functioning liver and high blood pressure.
So in a few days the results will be in. Stay tuned!

Went clothes shopping today
I had been looking at some clothes online and didn't really know what size to be ordering so I went out to do some clothes shopping. I tried on a few things and my exciting moment was when I tried on a size 16 dress and it was too big and put on the 14 and it was just right! From a size 20 to a 14! I didn't end up buying anything because I think it will be a waste of money when I could be a size smaller in another month!
Can't wait for the day I can go out and do some serious clothes shopping, hopefully in a size 10 or 12!
I thought I might start buying myself gift vouchers and put them aside for when I am ready to go out buying new clothes cause if I just put the money away I will end up spending it on other things.

Another milestone
When I started on BT I had some mini goals, the first was to be in the double digits, which happened. The next was to be able to buy normal sized clothing rather than going to the fuller figure section, which I can now do. Another goal was to be able to take off my wedding ring! It was so tight it was almost at the point I was going to have it cut off - with the weight gain plus fluid retention I have been unable to take it off for almost 10yrs! When I married 20 yrs ago next month I was just a mere 58kgs, under weight for my height by about 15kgs!

I'm in the 80's I'm in the 80's!
Yeah baby I have gone down to 89kgs! So excited! That goal is getting so much closer!

Being strong is so hard!
I think the more you cheat here and there the more and more you want to cheat and then before you know it you are not following the diet at all!
Started Monday with a good attitude and stuck to the plan all day, I had a glass of wine when cooking dinner! Why did I do that, because come Wednesday night I wanted a glass of wine again - BUT - I didn't have it, as much as I really wanted to, I didn't. So proud of myself. It is hard when your husband comes home and he is drinking. He doesn't have wine, that would be even harder, he has beer.
I have the same temptation with chocolate, wanting one here and there, and ends up being a few times a week.
I should write a list of all the temptations I wanted during the week and then save them for my free day.

Ooops haven't updated for over a month!
But I am still here and I am still going and now have lost 14.2kg with BodyTrim, and in total from my heaviest I have lost 19.2kg that is nearly 20kgs!!!!
In this past month I went to Melbourne for a conference and for 3 days I was completely off the diet - I enjoyed myself but I couldn't wait to get home to get back on to my diet and eat properly again. The damage bill was a 3 kg gain and I dropped 2 kilos quickly but worked hard at it for 2 weeks before I finally lost the other kilo plus a bit more.
I have been finding it a struggle with cravings for chocolate. I have been having a piece here and there with my cup of tea in the evening, but thankfully it didn't affect my loss too much. I need to try a bit harder and avoid temptations and save them for my free day.
This weekend I had wine on the Friday night along with some chips and some chocolate! Then Saturday was my free day and I had sushi for lunch and then to a friends for dinner which involved lots of wine too!
This morning I was only up 200gms so hope it doesn't get any worse, doing my PO day today.
I am so close to getting down under 90kgs - I need to be strong and not cheat in the next month so by my birthday in a months time I will be hopefully another 4 kilos lighter.
I need to get out and do some walking, something I have not been doing regularly on this diet, I am still losing weight but the walking not only will be good for my fitness but also can improve my results on the scales.

Great results this week!
I was very surprised to see I lost 1.6kg this week and that was with no exercise and mid week I went out to a work function and ate carbs at dinner, had dessert and 3 glasses of wine!
Had my free day on Saturday, had a BT breakfast, snack, lunch was Thai green curry chicken with some rice, then I had a chocolate eclair and half a custard horn, and mid afternoon I had 2 Tim Tams, then went out for dinner and I had chicken with some potato and shared a Baileys cheesecake with Amy.
All in all results the day after my free day were not too bad on the scales, about 600gm gain which by Wednesday will be gone again. When you eat carbs on your free day your body retains fluid and that is usually what the gain in weight is from.
So my weight on weigh in day was down to 93.2kg, getting in to the 80's is becoming so realistic now!

Fighting cravings
Starting to find it hard after dinner, wanting chocolate mostly. Tonight I had 2 Squares of Dove chocolate, not the first time either.
Trying really hard this week, I got in to the 94's but after my free day I went back up to 95, so really want to get back in to the 94's or more so 93!
Haven't made time to walk this week which would be affecting my weight loss too.
Going to a work function tomorrow night too!

So what is Body Trim?
Body Trim is a weight loss program developed in Australia by Geoff Jowett, a sports science graduate.
There is 3 phases to the Body Trim System
The first phase is the detox phase and it lasts for 3 days, it eliminates your cravings and kick starts your weight loss getting you motivated for Phase 2. Because you can lose quite a bit of weight during this detox it motivates you to keep going as you are already seeing results.
Phase 2 is the weight loss phase and during this phase you can only eat starchy foods at breakfast, your lunch and dinner are only protein and vegetables.
Phase 3 is the life long phase, it is what you will stay on for life but brings back in a lot of foods that you were missing out on in Phase 2.
Detox Phase - it can be 3 days of hell, but it is ONLY THREE DAYS, 3 DAYS for the change of a life time!
You can only eat protein - and protein only! You must have 3 meals a day and you must have 3 snacks a day - You can never go longer than 3 hours without a meal or snack, and you CAN have a snack every hour if you need to, but it must be one hour before you eat again.
Protein for meals are 100grms for a woman and 150gms for a man. Snacks must be 50-100gms - if you are eating every hour keep it at 50gm sizes.
So what the hell do you eat for 3 days?
This is what I eat, but there are many different options.
Breakfast -
2 scrambled eggs mixed with a bit of ricotta
1 poached egg and 50gms of lean bacon
(Eggs are equivalent to 50gms of protein)
Snack -
Ricotta Cheesecake (I have the recipe posted in recipes)
Lunch -
100gms BBQ Chicken (Skin removed)
Snack -
Another Ricotta Cheesecake or you could have a boiled egg, 50gm tuna/salmon, deli meats, prawns, sausage, meatballs
Dinner -
100gms of whatever I am cooking for the family, just the meat! Yep it looks dismal but it doesn' t take long after eating it then you feel satisfied and if you aren't you can have a snack in an hours time!
Snack -
As above for other snacks.
So you do that for 3 days, vary it up as you like.
Weight loss Phase
You will never be so happy to eat something green! Today you can have vegies and salads and you can now have a starch at breakfast, you must have it with your 100gms of protein though! So you can have cereal with a protein powder, or have cereal followed by your eggs. You can have fruit at breakfast now and only ever at breakfast but remember to have your protein too.
I typically have 1 poached egg on 1 slice of toast and 50gms of bacon. I have this every morning!
Remember then to have your snack no longer than 3 hrs after breakfast
Lunch and you can have your 100gms of protein and unlimited salad or vegies, you can use condiments in small portions, this is called 'don't sweat the small stuff' so you can have a dressing, or gravy etc.
There are some restrictions, you can only eat peas, carrots and corn 3 times a week. You cannot have pumpkin, sweet potato or potato, and obviously Pasta and Rice is a No No, leave them for your free day!
Remember to have your snack
Dinner is just like Lunch and end off the night with your last snack.
One day a week you have a FREE DAY, this helps trick the body by following it with a Protein Only day.
On your free day you can have those foods you have missed, keep it all in moderation. Enjoy a glass of wine or two!
The following day is just like when you were on detox, PROTEIN ONLY!
Exercise! No there is not a lot too it, just get out and walk everyday, something I am yet to get doing on a daily basis but I do try. The recommended amount is to aim for 10,000 steps a day!
and there you have it! Obviously by buying the Body Trim System you will gather a lot more information on how to make this successful, there is also a Body Trim Facebook Page that has tons of support and recipe ideas are posted there too.
When you buy the system from a bookstore or online you will also get DVD's which explains in full how everything works.
I am not in to Phase 3 yet so will update later on how phase 3 works, but basically you can now have starch at breakfast and at lunch and bring in other foods like nuts, avocado, pumpkin etc.

2 months gone by
I have now been on BT for 2 months, the longest I have ever stuck to a diet!
Today's weigh in only showed a 400gm loss, I am now 94.8kg, giving me a total loss so far of 9.7kgs! Arrrrgghh I wanted to reach the 10kg mark this week! Oh well, hopefully next week!
Had a free day on Saturday and started off good with my usual BT breakfast, had my protein snack and then 2 snack size mars bars with my cup of tea. Went to visit Mum in hospital and didn't get away and out somewhere to have lunch till almost 3pm. Had Hungry Jacks Whopper and fries! No afternoon protein snack as I was at the Good Food and Wine expo. Had some wine tastings there. For dinner I had 4 slices of Garlic Pizza on thin and crispy base and I had 2 glasses of wine. I actually didn't enjoy the wine, doesn't do it for me anymore, which is good as it stops me having more than 2 glasses.
I have had no time for walking this week, all my spare time has been spent going back and forth to RPH to see Mum who is in there with a broken ankle! Hopefully she will be home soon but there will still be some running back and forth helping her out at home too. I will make an effort to take her dogs for a walk when I am there so I can get my walking in too!

I have hit the 94's today!
I am a scale junkie, I weigh EVERY day, and after my free day which entailed a bit of alcohol I had put on nearly a kilo, but that has now gone plus more, I have now hit the 94's! Can't wait to be 90 and then 89!!!!!
I can really see my goal weight becoming a reality now!
Big test today, off to the movies and smelling POPCORN!!!!! Going to be hard but I will resist and take some chewing gum.

Recipes
Here are some recipes that have helped me through this journey without feeling as though I am missing out.
Zucchini Slice
Makes 6 portions worth 100g protein each (more or less how you want to cut it)
400g grated zucchini
1 onion chopped finely
100g shredded ham or bacon
5 eggs
250g ricotta cheese
1/2 cup grated cheese
Blend the eggs and ricotta and mix with all other ingredients.
Pour into lasagne type dish (spray with cooking spray first)
Bake in mod oven 40 -45 mins
1 cauliflower chopped raw in food processor
grated ginger
crushed garlic
spring onions (white part 1st, save green until cooked and throw them in last)
cooked bacon, egg, pork fillet, roasted chicken cut in cubes, been shoots, anything that you like and that would be in Fried Rice
Soy sauce
In wok heat 1 tablespoon of oil - Rice Bran oil reaches high heat without burning everything.
Add ginger, garlic and white spring onions, cook for a few minutes
Add grated cauliflower and stir around wok for 4-5 minutes
Then toss in all protein and stir till hot
Add soy sauce to taste and keep moving
Stir through green spring onion tops and been shoots.

Not fried rice!

ZUCCHINI AND RICOTTA BAKE
600g lamb mince
1 onion
1 tsp crushed garlic
1 pkt french onion soup mix
grated (finely chopped) vegies of your choice, I used carrot, capsicum, fennel bulb
and celery, in the amounts of your choice
1 jar of raguletto red wine and garlic pasta sauce
1/3 jar of water to rinse
squirt of tomato sauce
squirt of bbq sauce (I actually rinsed out some bottles I had that were empty)
3 medium zucchini sliced thinly lengthways
500g ricotta
1 bunch fresh basil
1 cup cheddar cheese grated
2 eggs
Brown the mince then add onion, garlic and other veg and soften. Next add soup
mix and combine thoroughly. Add pasta sauce, water and other sauces and
simmer until cooked.
Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees C. Spoon a layer of mixture on the bottom of
lasagne dish. Top with layer of zucchini, then sauce, then zucchini. Next combine
ricotta, eggs, basil and 1/2 the cheddar and spoon this on top of the zucchini
layer. Top with another layer of zucchini and then the remaining bolognaise
sauce. Sprinkle with the other half cup of cheddar cheese and bake for 1-1 and
half hours until zucchini is soft.
Basically its low carb lasagne!!!
Not tatoes - a yummy alternative to mashed potatoes is cooked cauliflower pureed with some ricotta or philly cheese, garlic, and mustard if you like, serve as you would mashed potato.

Progress photo
Remember that photo I posted way down the page that I hated, well here it is and comparing it with me now you can really see the difference!
A month since I blogged!
and I am still going well! I am down 9kgs now and working towards the first 10kgs! I have started to walk and in one week last week I lost 1.6kgs.
A lot of my pants for work are now too big which is great but I don't really want to go out and buy any clothes just yet!
I have found the temptations of a choccie here and there are creeping back in, but even when I have done that I have still managed to lose weight. I am finding it easier to control temptation when out eating too and best of all I am still not drinking every day and only having a drink on my free day. There has been a few weekends where I have gone overboard and it takes days and days for that to shift on the scales!
My waist is now down to 94cm, 5cm in the last month - remember I was once 113cm at one stage!
My thighs are going down too - my arms not as much loss there and only a small amount from my bust, phew!
I drink a lot of Green Tea which can help speed up your weight loss and I really enjoy it too!

Weigh in
Well not as much as I had hoped, but almost half a kilo, down 400gms and a total of 6.1 kilos in 4 weeks.
On a brighter note I almost can fit in to my brand new work pants I bought about a year ago and could never do up, I mean they were inches and inches away from even doing up - well now I can do them right up and fit really nice except when I sit down LOL. So won't be long and I will be wearing them. My normal work pants are getting baggier and baggier by the day.
In 2009 according to my blog my waist was up to 113cm, and I believe it would have been a lot more than that when I restarted in May but I didn't measure as I couldn't find my tape - but now I am 99cm!
Monday 13th I also started a 10 kilo challenge in 8 weeks - this sees me through to mid August, which if I get to go to the annual work conference in Melbourne this year and I reach my goal I will be down over 16kg and looking pretty darn good! I haven't seen everyone over there for 2 years so it should be a noticeable change to them all.
I stuck to the plan all week, I went 10 days between free days and saved it for Brian's birthday. I had a BT Breakfast, snack, Lunch, snack and in the afternoon treated myself to a caramel kitkat with my protein snack, had another protein snack before going out for dinner. At dinner I had only 2 glasses of sparkling wine, 1 piece of garlic bread, creamy garlic prawns with small amount of rice and some salad and a couple of spoonfuls of my son's sticky date pudding.
I still haven't got out and walked, I know I know I should I should! But not today it is cold and miserable! LOL.

Weigh in tomorrow
Another week has gone by and I am quite comfortable on this diet now, it is my way of life. I didn't cheat once during the week and I went 10 days between my last free day, saved it for Brian's birthday that was on Friday.
I stuck to my BT meals all day and in the afternoon I had my chocolate treat, a caramel KitKat, then we went out for dinner. I had creamy garlic prawns served with rice and salad, it was only a smalll serving of rice, about 1/4 of a cup, I struggled to eat all the prawns! I had only 2 glasses of wine and I shared a Sticky date pudding with my son.
Weigh in is tomorrow and I hope something dramatic happens overnight otherwise it is not yet looking like much of a loss! Stay tuned!

Yay more weight down today!

21 days in
and 5.3kgs lighter! I had a bit of a naughty week with a full day out for a work meeting, so I started the day with a normal BT breakfast and had my mid morning protein, but from then on it went bad with lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and lots of alcohol. I also had another evening of a non BT dinner and some more wine, but with all that going on I actually still lost 900gms, so close to a kilo! and the best news is I am finally below 100kgs!
My weight on Monday (day 21) is now 99.2kg, almost in the 98's!
I find now when I do eat prohibited foods they either make me feel sick or I can't eat that much, which is a good thing! With my continuing struggle with alcohol over the years and my reason for failing in diets I finally have it beat! From drinking every single night, often a full bottle of wine I have now only drank 4 times in 21 days and saved myself probably nearly $200 in alcohol! I couldn't be prouder as I knew if I didn't stop not only would I never lose weight but I would be heading to an early grave.
I am going to reward myself this week as I have always wanted an iPad but still can't afford one, but I have now decided I am going to go for the Motorola Xoom tablet which is similar to the iPad but I can get it on a plan :)

Day 12
I am up to day 12 - progressing fairly well with sticking to the plan. I battled last night with will I, won't I have some wine, decided no I wouldn't then John turns up with wine! So I had some - but the rest of the day I had been good. I craved a caramello koala and even went to buy one and decided on an Atkins chocolate bar instead which was a better option!
It has been a slow creep down on the scales this week, still waiting to hit that magical '99' but I am so close it is not funny! 100.3 is my current weight today!
Made a nice meatloaf for dinner last night, I really enjoyed it! I served it with notatoes (Cauliflower mash), roasted asparagus, broccoli and mushrooms stuffed with beetroot relish and philly cheese.
Meatloaf - Serves 4
700g lean beef mince
1 onion finely chopped
1 garlic clove crushed
2 tbs chopped parsley
1/2 tsp chilli powder
2 tsp dijon mustard
2 tsp worcestershire sauce
1 tbs tomato paste
1 egg
400g cherry tomatoes
1/2 cup tomato pasta sauce
Preheat oven 200 deg C

In to week 2
After a free day you must follow with a protein only day - so back on to it again, bit hard after really only just finishing detox 4 days prior! Oh well I pulled through! Even though my boss bought Darrel Lea chocolates I did not relent! I kept strong!!!
Looking forward to now having a week of back to normal eating with some bread in the morning and vegies and salad for lunch and dinner!
Oh and this week I should hit below the 100 mark and back down to double digits! Woo hoo!!!!

End of first week
I weighed on the Saturday and I was down 2.9kgs, but on day 7 I was up 200gms, I am putting it down to fluid retention because I had swelled up as I do when on my feet all day.
Sunday I had my first free day - was good all day and then in the early evening I had a Kit Kat - I really did miss chocolate! With my dinner I also had 1 roast potato and some roasted pumpkin. I also had a few Cherry Pods in the evening and some wine! I don't think I went over board, but next week I am going to try to be a bit stronger on the choccies and wine.

Survived the 3 day detox
I survived the 3 day detox and quite a lot easier than the last time I did it. After the 3 days I had dropped 2.5kgs, most of which is of course fluid.
I am now on day 5 of the plan, now in the weight loss phase where I can now have starch at breakfast so I enjoy having my poached egg on a slice of toast.
I am enjoying trying new recipes that make the mundane meat and veg exciting.
Tonight I had Steak with a mustard sauce, stuffed capsicum, roasted asparagus and steam broccolini, and it was really yummy!

I am surviving through the day with Ricotta cheesecakes for some protein snacks, I made them before and they are posted here on this blog further down - it is a nice way to finish off your evening with a cuppa and a little ricotta cheesecake.

Day one of Detox Phase
Well I survived day one of the detox phase without any problems. I even weighed this morning (I know you shouldn't) and I lost a kilo, not surprised with the amount of times I had to wee!
In my first day I had 1 poached egg and 50gms of bacon for breakfast.
Mid morning I had 2 slices of ham and lunch I made some beef patties and had one of those.
Mid afternoon snack was some left over roast beef and dinner I had chicken kebabs, had over 150gms, which is 50gms above normal quota but I was rather depressed with the small helping.
I had a slice of roast beef for my last snack of the day.
I drank my quota of water too! Did not do any walking.
Tuesday 17th May 2011 weight is 103.50kg

Another year gone by....
Well here I am yet again, still have not progressed any further from where I last left off.
Today I am attempting Bodytrim again, I know in theory it works, I just have to stick with it and let it happen.
So day one and I am on the 3 day detox phase 1.
Today's weight is 104.5kgs - 3kgs lighter than when I first started blogging!
My first goal is to get down to the two digits, under 100kgs! (Goal reached 20 days in to diet)
