Great results this week!

I was very surprised to see I lost 1.6kg this week and that was with no exercise and mid week I went out to a work function and ate carbs at dinner, had dessert and 3 glasses of wine!
Had my free day on Saturday, had a BT breakfast, snack, lunch was Thai green curry chicken with some rice, then I had a chocolate eclair and half a custard horn, and mid afternoon I had 2 Tim Tams, then went out for dinner and I had chicken with some potato and shared a Baileys cheesecake with Amy.
All in all results the day after my free day were not too bad on the scales, about 600gm gain which by Wednesday will be gone again.  When you eat carbs on your free day your body retains fluid and that is usually what the gain in weight is from.
So my weight on weigh in day was down to 93.2kg, getting in to the 80's is becoming so realistic now!

Fighting cravings

Starting to find it hard after dinner, wanting chocolate mostly.  Tonight I had 2 Squares of Dove chocolate, not the first time either.
Trying really hard this week, I got in to the 94's but after my free day I went back up to 95, so really want to get back in to the 94's or more so 93!
Haven't made time to walk this week which would be affecting my weight loss too.
Going to a work function tomorrow night too!

So what is Body Trim?

Body Trim is a weight loss program developed in Australia by Geoff Jowett, a sports science graduate.

There is 3 phases to the Body Trim System

The first phase is the detox phase and it lasts for 3 days, it eliminates your cravings and kick starts your weight loss getting you motivated for Phase 2.  Because you can lose quite a bit of weight during this detox it motivates  you to keep going as  you are already seeing results.

Phase 2 is the weight loss phase and during this phase you can only eat starchy foods at breakfast, your lunch and dinner are only protein and vegetables.

Phase 3 is the life long phase, it is what you will stay on for life but brings back in a lot of foods that you were missing out on in Phase 2.

Detox Phase - it can be 3 days of hell, but it is ONLY THREE DAYS, 3 DAYS for the change of a life time!
You can only eat protein - and protein only!  You must have 3 meals a day and you must have 3 snacks a day - You can never go longer than 3 hours without a meal or snack, and you CAN have a snack every hour if you need to, but it must be one hour before you eat again.
Protein for meals are 100grms for a woman and 150gms for a man.  Snacks must be 50-100gms - if you are eating every hour keep it at 50gm sizes.

So what the hell do you eat for 3 days?
This is what I eat, but there are many different options.

Breakfast -
2 scrambled eggs mixed with a bit of ricotta
1 poached egg and 50gms of lean bacon
(Eggs are equivalent to 50gms of protein)

Snack -
Ricotta Cheesecake (I have the recipe posted in recipes)

Lunch -
100gms BBQ Chicken (Skin removed)

Snack -
Another Ricotta Cheesecake or you could have a boiled egg, 50gm tuna/salmon, deli meats, prawns, sausage, meatballs

Dinner -
100gms of whatever I am cooking for the family, just the meat!  Yep it looks dismal but it doesn' t take long after eating it then you feel satisfied and if you aren't you can have a snack in an hours time!

Snack -
As above for other snacks.

So you do that for 3 days, vary it up as you like.

Weight loss Phase

You will never be so happy to eat something green!  Today you can have vegies and salads and you can now have a starch at breakfast, you must have it with your 100gms of protein though!  So you can have cereal with a protein powder, or have cereal followed by your eggs.  You can have fruit at breakfast now and only ever at breakfast but remember to have your protein too.

I typically have 1 poached egg on 1 slice of toast and 50gms of bacon.  I have this every morning!

Remember then to have your snack no longer than 3 hrs after breakfast

Lunch and you can have your 100gms of protein and unlimited salad or vegies, you can use condiments in small portions, this is called 'don't sweat the small stuff' so you can have a dressing, or gravy etc.

There are some restrictions, you can only eat peas, carrots and corn 3 times a week.  You cannot have pumpkin, sweet potato or potato, and obviously Pasta and Rice is a No No, leave them for your free day!

Remember to have your snack

Dinner is just like Lunch and end off the night with your last snack.

One day a week  you have a FREE DAY, this helps trick the body by following it with a Protein Only day.
On  your free day you can have those foods you have missed, keep it all in moderation.  Enjoy a glass of wine or two!
The following day is just like when  you were on detox, PROTEIN ONLY!

Exercise!  No there is not a lot too it, just get out and walk everyday, something I am yet to get doing on a daily basis but I do try.  The recommended amount is to aim for 10,000 steps a day!

and there you have it!  Obviously by buying the Body Trim System you will gather a lot more information on how to make this successful, there is also a Body Trim Facebook Page that has tons of support and recipe ideas are posted there too.
When you buy the system from a bookstore or online you will also get DVD's which explains in full how everything works.

I am not in to Phase 3 yet so will update later on how phase 3 works, but basically you can now have starch at breakfast and at lunch and bring in other foods like nuts, avocado, pumpkin etc.

Another comparison shot

I am really happy with how much weight I have lost off my face!

2 months gone by

I have now been on BT for 2 months, the longest I have ever stuck to a diet!
Today's weigh in only showed a 400gm loss, I am now 94.8kg, giving me a total loss so far of 9.7kgs!  Arrrrgghh I wanted to reach the 10kg mark this week!  Oh well, hopefully next week!

Had a free day on Saturday and started off good with my usual BT breakfast, had my protein snack and then 2 snack size mars bars with my cup of tea.  Went to visit Mum in hospital and didn't get away and out somewhere to have lunch till almost 3pm.  Had Hungry Jacks Whopper and fries!  No afternoon protein snack as I was at the Good Food and Wine expo.  Had some wine tastings there.  For dinner I had 4 slices of Garlic Pizza on thin and crispy base and I had 2 glasses of wine.  I actually didn't enjoy the wine, doesn't do it for me anymore, which is good as it stops me having more than 2 glasses.

I have had no time for walking this week, all my spare time has been spent going back and forth to RPH to see Mum who is in there with a broken ankle!  Hopefully she will be home soon but there will still be some running back and forth helping her out at home too.  I will make an effort to take her dogs for a walk when I am there so I can get my walking in too!

I have hit the 94's today!

I am a scale junkie, I weigh EVERY day, and after my free day which entailed a bit of alcohol I had put on nearly a kilo, but that has now gone plus more, I have now hit the 94's!  Can't wait to be 90 and then 89!!!!!

I can really see my goal weight becoming a reality now!

Big test today, off to the movies and smelling POPCORN!!!!!  Going to be hard but I will resist and take some chewing gum.

Recipes

Here are some recipes that have helped me through this journey without feeling as though I am missing out.

Zucchini Slice

Makes 6 portions worth 100g protein each (more or less how you want to cut it)

400g grated zucchini
1 onion chopped finely
100g shredded ham or bacon
5 eggs
250g ricotta cheese
1/2 cup grated cheese

Blend the eggs and ricotta and mix with all other ingredients.
Pour into lasagne type dish (spray with cooking spray first)
Bake in mod oven 40 -45 mins

Not fried rice!

1 cauliflower chopped raw in food processor
grated ginger
crushed garlic
spring onions (white part 1st, save green until cooked and throw them in last)
cooked bacon, egg, pork fillet, roasted chicken cut in cubes, been shoots, anything that you like and that would be in Fried Rice
Soy sauce

In wok heat 1 tablespoon of oil -  Rice Bran oil  reaches high heat without burning everything.

Add ginger, garlic and white spring onions, cook for a few minutes
Add grated cauliflower and stir around wok for 4-5 minutes
Then toss in all protein and stir till hot
Add soy sauce to taste and keep moving
Stir through green spring onion tops and been shoots.

ZUCCHINI AND RICOTTA BAKE

600g lamb mince
1 onion
1 tsp crushed garlic
1 pkt french onion soup mix
grated (finely chopped) vegies of your choice, I used carrot, capsicum, fennel bulb
and celery, in the amounts of your choice
1 jar of raguletto red wine and garlic pasta sauce
1/3 jar of water to rinse
squirt of tomato sauce
squirt of bbq sauce (I actually rinsed out some bottles I had that were empty)
3 medium zucchini sliced thinly lengthways
500g ricotta
1 bunch fresh basil
1 cup cheddar cheese grated
2 eggs

Brown the mince then add onion, garlic and other veg and soften. Next add soup
mix and combine thoroughly. Add pasta sauce, water and other sauces and
simmer until cooked.

Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees C. Spoon a layer of mixture on the bottom of
lasagne dish. Top with layer of zucchini, then sauce, then zucchini. Next combine
ricotta, eggs, basil and 1/2 the cheddar and spoon this on top of the zucchini
layer. Top with another layer of zucchini and then the remaining bolognaise
sauce. Sprinkle with the other half cup of cheddar cheese and bake for 1-1 and
half hours until zucchini is soft.

Basically its low carb lasagne!!!

Not tatoes - a yummy alternative to mashed potatoes is cooked cauliflower pureed with some ricotta or philly cheese, garlic, and mustard if you like, serve as you would mashed potato.

THE INFAMOUS RICOTTA CHEESECAKES

I am sure the sales of ricotta have gone through the roof now this recipe has got around!  Makes a yummy alternative to your boring protein snack of meat or eggs.

1 sachet of diet jelly
1 cup boiling water

Blend all together and pour in to patty lined muffin tin and refrigerate for 2 hrs.

Progress photo

Remember that photo I posted way down the page that I hated, well here it is and comparing it with me now you can really see the difference!

A month since I blogged!

and I am still going well!  I am down 9kgs now and working towards the first 10kgs!  I have started to walk and in one week last week I lost 1.6kgs.
A lot of my pants for work are now too big which is great but I don't really want to go out and buy any clothes just yet!
I have found the temptations of a choccie here and there are creeping back in, but even when I have done that I have still managed to lose weight.  I am finding it easier to control temptation when out eating too and best of all I am still not drinking every day and only having a drink on my free day.  There has been a few weekends where I have gone overboard and it takes days and days for that to shift on the scales!
My waist is now down to 94cm, 5cm in the last month - remember I was once 113cm at one stage!
My thighs are going down too - my arms not as much loss there and only a small amount from my bust, phew!
I drink a lot of Green Tea which can help speed up your weight loss and I really enjoy it too!
